I am giving the Mi 9 one of the best designed smartphone of 2019. It is just damn stunning to look, hold and use. The device has extremely thin bezel across the sides, top and bottom. Xiaomi Mi 9 touches down in a design language that’s amazing and unsurprising at the same time. Let’s start with the fantastic part: a holographic spectrum gives a funky look to the back of the device. Blue and Purple colourations deliver this funkiness without restrains. However, the Black option portrays more of a shiny behind. At the top of the device are the microphone and IR blaster and at the bottom are the USB Type-C port and speaker grill. It has curve edges with aluminium frame. While the front is designed out of corning gorilla glass 6, the back is less secure from fall because of the corning gorilla glass 5 used.
Due to that (notch), the phone’s 6.39-inch screen is blessed with a superb 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. As there’s sufficient area for watching YouTube and Instagram videos, the display is accompanied with FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.
Processor, Software & Storage
The device uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset accompanied by Adreno 640 GPU. The chip uses a 7nm octa core CPU with speed up to 2.8GHz (single 2.8 GHz Kryo 485, three 2.4 GHz Kryo 485 and four 1.7 GHz Kryo 485). One of the hardware’s unusual features is the embedded fingerprint scanner in the lower segment of the AMOLED panel. The in-display fingerprint sensor draws power from the 7nm Snapdragon 855. Unfortunately, no 5G modem was attached to this model, so no 5G connectivity is supported. That’s not totally bad news because 5G is still in the phase of perfection.
With options for 6GB / 8GB RAM combined with the software and hardware, this is one of the fastest and capable smartphones in the world. Internal storage options are 64GB and 128GB respectively.
