Chinese handset maker Vivo today announced two new flagship smartphones, the Vivo Nex S and Vivo Nex A. The smartphones have been in the news for some weeks now. After leaks of the handset revealed their design and specifications.
Vivo Nex S sports a third generation in-display fingerprint sensor that is 50 percent more accurate and 10 percent faster. Meanwhile, there’s an 8MP pop-up front camera that reveals itself only when you open the camera app.
In addition, the Vivo Nex S runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.0 on top. This device features a 6.59-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels.

Design and Display
Vivo Nex S sports an aluminium design with a glass material on its front.
The Vivo Nex S smartphone has dimensions of 162 x 77 x 8 mm (6.38 x 3.03 x 0.31 in). With a weight of 199g.
The device also has a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED Capacitive Touch-screen, with 16M colours. With a resolution of 1080 x 2316 pixels, it has a 19.3:9 aspect ratio (~420 ppi density).
This flagship has Multitouch features, with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4. In addition, there’s an in-display Fingerprint sensor. Also, it comes in two colour variants: Black and Red.
Hardware and Software
The Vivo Nex S Android smartphone comes with Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system.
Vivo Nex S is powered by a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset with a 64-bit processor. It also comes with an Octa-core processor configured at (4×2.7 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver).
Furthermore, it uses an Adreno 630 GPU for graphics handling.
This device offers 8Gb of RAM and 128/256 Gb of inbuilt memory. Also, the large RAM means that there’s no card slot.
Other sensors on this device are Fingerprint (under display), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass sensors.
Camera and Battery
Vivo Nex S features a Dual: 12 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.5″, 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF) + 5 MP (f/2.4), 4-axis OIS camera. With phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED dual-tone flash.
Upfront, there’s a Pop-up 8 MP (f/2.0) camera.
As for battery life, there’s a Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery. Also, a fast battery charging 22W feature is included.
The Vivo Nex S Android smartphone sells for about 700 EUR. Which is equivalent to N293,268.
