Print resources and non-print resources are two different resources and here I’ll be explaining both of them to you and I’ll be telling you what their resources are. I’ll also be explaining their characteristics the advantages and disadvantages together with the importance and uses they have.

 Print resources

 Print resources or print materials are divided into two namely subject matter and material type. It is a source of information that uses writing to pass information. It is also a manual way of storing important and relevant information. Some examples are books, newspapers, etc.

Non-print resources

Non-print resources are resources of information that aren’t in written form for example television, radio, internet, movies, etc. It is also an electronic way in which you can store important and relevant information at times by typing or talking. 

Characteristics of print resources

Some of the characteristics of print resources are, they are:

  • Spontaneous: print resources can actually be used in any way without any presentation equipment.
  • Instructionally transparent: if a student studies very well, the print medium which is their book is the most transparent instruction of all.
  • Easy to use and portable. Given that adequate light and print materials can be used any time anywhere and any place without the aid of other equipment.  Learners can take away printed resources for them to be read, reviewed and corrected on their own time and to a place of their own choice.  This portability of print resources is very important for learners in cities or towns as long as there is limited access to technology.
