OnePlus just announced the OnePlus 6 at their international launch event in London, England. The OnePlus 6 will be released on May 22.
This device boasts of the biggest screen OnePlus has put on a phone. There’s a display notch, a Snapdragon 845 chipset, and a new glass design. The OnePlus 6 has come to play with the big names in the Smartphone market.
This post is a quick review of the OnePlus 6.
Design and Display
The OnePlus 6 sports a premium finish. With its body covered with Gorilla Glass material, it also has an aluminum frame at its core. This device is the first device from OnePlus to feature a notch at the top of its display.
The OnePlus 6 has dimensions of 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.8 mm (6.13 x 2.97 x 0.31 in). Also, it weighs 177g.
This device also has a 6.28-inchOptic AMOLED Capacitive Touch-screen, with 16M colors. With a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels, it has a 19:9 aspect ratio (~402 ppi density).
This Smartphone supports Multitouch, with its screen protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass v5 material. There’s also a DCI-P3 certification, which means this device has facial unlock included.
There’s a Fingerprint Scanner mounted at the rear of the phone, and it comes in three colors: Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and Silk White.
Hardware and Software
The OnePlus 6 comes with Android 8.1 (oreo) operating system. Also included is their trademark Oxygen OS User Interface.
The OnePlus 6 is powered by a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset with a 64-bit processor. It also comes with an Octa-core processor configured at (4×2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver).
Furthermore, it uses an Adreno 630 GPU for graphics handling.
This device offers 6GB and 8GB RAM combinations, with three inbuilt storage options to select from (64GB, 128GB and 256GB). Which can’t be expanded, due to the unavailability of a micro SD slot.
Other features of this device are Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass sensors.
Camera and Battery
The OnePlus 6 features a dual 16 MP (f/1.7, 27mm, 1/2.6″, 1.22µm, gyro-EIS, OIS) + 20 MP (f/1.7, 1/2.8″, 1.0µm) camera. With phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED flash.
The manufacturers increased the size of the 16MP sensor by 19% (vs 5T), which allows more light in. And reduces the level of noise when taking low light shots.
Upfront, there’s a 16 MP (f/2.0, 20mm, 1/3″, 1.0µm), 1080p camera. With gyro-EIS, and Auto HDR.
In addition, face unlock feature is included, which allows you to unlock the device hands free. Although, face unlock takes 0.4 seconds to recognize you and grant you access to the device. While the fingerprint scanner does this quicker at 0.2 seconds.
As for the battery life, there’s a Non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery. Also, a Dash Charge feature is included. This gives the device fast charging at 5V 4A 20W.
The OnePlus 6 sells for about 520 EUR. Which is equivalent to N221,043.
