Nokia 2.2 Summary
Nokia 2.2 smartphone launched on 6th June 2019, and it came in Steel and Tungsten Black colors. The device comes with a 5.7-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19:9, powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor, comes with 2GB of RAM, runs Android Pie and is powered by a REMOVEABLE Li-Ion 3,000mAh battery.
As for the cameras, the device has a single 13MP camera. It also sports a 5MP front-facing selfie camera.
Nokia 2.2 is based on Android 9.0 Pie and packs 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 400GB). The Nokia 2.2 is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards.
Design and Display
The Nokia 2.2 is a budget phone, and that is evident from the use of plastic for its production. This smartphone has a tiny impression and will fit in your palm comfortably. It has a 5.7-inch display with a dewdrop notch. The borders around the screen are thick but reasonable for the price. The company has picked the thick bottom chin to place the Nokia logo. The earpiece rests between the frame and the display.
HMD Global has placed the power button and volume rockers on the right, and all three are easy to reach thanks to the size of this smartphone. There is a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left. This button can be used to summon the Google Assistant on any screen, and you can use the walkie-talkie method to keep the button held while you give a command.
Design cont.
Releasing the button stops the Assistant’s listening characteristics and starts processing your command instantly, which helps speed up communications with the Google Assistant. You do get the choice to switch off this action in the settings, but it would have been preferable to customize this button do something else, if necessary.
The smartphone has a primary microphone at the bottom, along with a Micro-USB port, while on top is a 3.5mm headphone jack. At the back, you would find a single camera along with an LED flash. This smartphone misses out on a fingerprint sensor just like the Realme C2. However, a few other phones at this price such as the Asus ZenFone Max M2 and Redmi 7 do sport one
The back panel of the smartphone is detachable, and the battery also. If you like a smartphone with a removable battery, this is one of the few ones. It is a dual SIM smartphone and has two Nano-SIM slots as well as a dedicated microSD card port. The loudspeaker is at the back.
Specifications and Software
Nokia 2.2 has decent specifications. The MediaTek Helio A22 SoC powers the phone just like the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. It is not the most powerful processor at this price point at all, but it should be competent in handling basic day-to-day tasks. The phone is available in 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. However, If you intend on picking the device for gaming, it would not be the smartest choice.
The 5.71-inch IPS LCD has an HD+ 720×1520 pixel resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The company offers you the option to twist the color temperature of the panel. It had proper viewing angles and could get bright enough to be visible outdoors.
Like other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 2.2 is a part of the Android One platform. It operates stock Android Pie with an additional app called My Phone, which is for after-sales support.
Since the Nokia 2.2 skips out on a fingerprint scanner, it does offer face recognition, using the front-facing selfie camera to recognize you. We found the process to be sluggish, and it took longer in low-light situations.
Cameras, and Battery life
The Nokia 2.2 has a single 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP front-facing selfie camera. The camera app is basic and has Google Lens, time-lapse, panorama, and square modes. It features a quick toggle for HDR, and you can set it to auto mode so that it kicks in automatically if the scene requires it.
Photos taken with the smartphone were decent in daylight, but the device did struggle to get the exposure right.
The Nokia 2.2 decks in a 3000mAh removable battery that delivers decent battery life. The phone delivered over a day of battery life while shooting camera samples, gaming, and more. However, the phone was not as efficient in our HD video loop test, as it would barely manage just about 10 hours of playback. It does take over an hour and a half to charge with the supplied charger fully.
Extras
Connectivity options on the device include Micro-USB, Bluetooth v4.20, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, USB OTG, and FM radio with active 4G on both SIM cards.
Sensors on the phone include an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. The Nokia 2.2 supports face unlock.
The Nokia 2.2 smartphone pricing starts at around 48,000 Naira
