Earlier this week, HMD announced the new Nokia 2.1 Android smartphone. The Nokia 2.1 is a successor to the earlier released Nokia 2 and will be released by next month. Also, this device falls into the lower mid-range category because of its low budget pricing. And also because of its low spec ratings.
The new Nokia 2.1 features a 5.5-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 425 chipset, a meagre 1GB of RAM, 8GB of inbuilt-storage (of which 4.7GB is available), a microSD slot, and a 4,000mAh battery.
Let me go ahead and review the Nokia 2.1.
Design and Display
The Nokia 2.1 has its body wrapped in an aluminium frame. With a front glass and a plastic body.
The Nokia 2.1 has dimensions of 153.6 x 77.6 x 9.7 mm (6.05 x 3.06 x 0.38 in). With a weight of 174g.
This device also has a 5.5-inch IPS Capacitive Touch-screen, with 16M colours. With a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, it has a 16:9 aspect ratio (~267 ppi density).
Furthermore, this Smartphone also has its screen protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass material.
In addition, the Nokia 2.1 comes in three colour variants: Blue/Copper, Blue/Silver, and Grey/Silver.
Hardware and Software
The Nokia 2.1 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) + Android One operating system.
The Nokia 2.1 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 chipset with a 32-bit processor. Furthermore, it also comes with a Quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz.
This device features 1Gb of RAM and 8Gb of inbuilt memory. Which can also be expanded to 128Gb using a microSD card.
Sensors on this device are Accelerometer and proximity sensors.
Camera and Battery
The Nokia 2.1 features an 8 MP (f/2.0) camera. With autofocus, and LED flash.
Upfront, there’s also a 5 MP camera. This camera isn’t good in selfie-taking. It doesn’t do well in most low-light environments.
Also, talking about the battery life, there’s a Non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAh battery. Also included is a fast charge feature.
Price
The Nokia 2.1 Android smartphone sells for about 100 EUR. Which is equivalent to N41,966.
