Apple’s latest iOS 11.3 software update is causing iPhone 8 devices that have had screens repaired by third-parties to stop working.
Owners that chose a third-party vendor to repair their iPhone screen over Apple, have seen their touchscreen stop working after updating to iOS 11.3.
Affected users said the display on their iPhone 8 continued to show the homescreen. But after updating to iOS 11.3 it could not be interacted with.
Michael Oberdick, CEO of iPhone repair and pre-owned store iOutlet, said his firm had previously decided against fixing iPhone 8s.
He said: “We don’t even do the 8 repairs this year, on purpose.
“I had a really good feeling that something like this was going to happen again.”
Last year a similar thing happened with the iPhone 7.
Apple later released a follow-up software update which made the touchscreens work again and resolved the issue.
So far, Apple have not commented on the claims.
