Installing a video doorbell camera is a wonderful place to start if you want to increase the security of your house.

It not only adds a degree of security, but it also enables you to monitor your property even when you’re not at home.

We’re going to guide you through the process of setting up a video doorbell camera in six easy steps in this article so you can feel a little bit safer and more comfortable in your house.

Video doorbells are a wise investment because they offer so many advantageous features. You can monitor who comes to your door and when with a video doorbell camera.

A smart video doorbell, for instance, can make it simple for you to receive notifications whenever a delivery arrives if you receive a lot of deliveries.

So how exactly does one install a doorbell camera? It’s simple. If you purchased a battery-operated type, simply mount it after charging the battery and set it up with the app.

Subsequent sections of this article will show you how to install a video bell camera in 6 simple and specific steps, but first, we’re going to look at the tools you’ll need to get the job done.

Tools You Will Need To Install a Video Doorbell Camera

Although each Ring doorbell kit comes with various extras, they always include installation instructions, a screwdriver, screws, a charging cord if necessary, and virtually whatever else you need for setting up your doorbell.

If you need to screw your Ring Doorbell into concrete or plaster, you might also require a drill. Also to assist you in removing your old doorbell, we advise that you have a box cutter or flathead screwdriver on hand.

Steps On How to Install a Video Doorbell Camera

    1. Charge The Battery

After removing the packaging from your Ring, find the battery and connect it to electricity using the included charging wire. It’s been noticed that though the battery in the Ring 2 is intended to be removed easily once the doorbell has been mounted, it can be challenging to do so.

So it’s advisable to remove it by holding it up against a flat, vertical surface, such as a wall.

You should notice a red light and a green light when your battery is plugged in to show that it is charging. You need to wait patiently for it to charge fully as charging could take four to six hours.

The red light will go out after the battery is fully charged, giving you the “green light” to begin the installation.

    2. Connect to the internet

To connect your Ring Video Doorbell to your home’s Wi-Fi network, install the Ring app and adhere to the on-screen directions. It merely takes a few minutes to set everything up and connect thanks to the app’s step-by-step instructions.

    3. Cut the Power to Your Current Doorbell

When you’re ready to begin installing your doorbell, you must first turn off the breaker that supplies power to your current doorbell.

If you’re unsure of which breaker your doorbell is connected to, try turning each one off individually and see if your doorbell still works thereafter.

However, if you didn’t have a doorbell installed beforehand, you can skip this process.

    4. Uninstall The Old Doorbell

Now to reveal the screws, take off the faceplate of your previous doorbell using a boxcutter or screwdriver. To reveal the two power lines, unscrew the old doorbell from the wall and carefully pull it out.

Be careful with this stage since you don’t want to break the doorbell wires by pulling too hard. The doorbell wires should still be twisted around screws on the inside of the old doorbell.

Finally, you can remove the old doorbell entirely by loosening the screws that hold the wires in place.

    5. Mount the New Video Doorbell

The two doorbell wires should now just protrude from the hole where your old doorbell formerly was in your wall. Open the Ring app and the doorbell’s live video stream before you install your mounting bracket.

To ensure you’re achieving the desired angle, hold your Ring Doorbell up against the surface over the hole in the same location where you’re going to attach it. Then, verify the image on your phone.

Once you’ve chosen a location, check that the mounting bracket is straight with the provided level tool and mark the spot for the new screw holes with a pencil.

At this point, wherever you want your doorbell to go, that’s where you should attach the brackets. Before you screw the bracket in, double-check that the doorbell wires are inserted through the bracket’s hole. After installing the brackets, place your Ring Video Doorbell directly above each bracket and press down until it clicks into place.

    6. Power up and Configure the Doorbell Using the App

After installing the doorbell, restart the breaker to check it. Check to make sure it works properly. Once it’s finished, download the smart home app from your phone and pair it with your doorbell.

You may now experiment with features, configure motion detection and night vision settings, select the notification types you desire, and choose the areas your camera should cover using the Ring app. Additionally, remember to select a Ring storage plan to save clips.

    FAQ

Are doorbell cameras easy to install?

The simplest doorbell cameras to install are wireless models, which frequently feature a siren, two-way speak, video recording, night vision, and other features.

Does a doorbell camera need wifi?

Yes, Wi-Fi is necessary for doorbell cameras to operate properly. Without it, the doorbell camera won’t have a signal to relay to your app, preventing you from using all of its cool features like two-way audio, video, or push notifications.

How do I install a ring doorbell without the internet?

Sadly, the initial setup cannot happen without a Wi-Fi connection. Utilizing the Ring app is required to configure your new Ring devices. Your gadget cannot be set up with the Ring app without an internet connection since it needs to be connected to the internet for communication.

Can I install a video doorbell myself?

Many video doorbells, notably those made by Ring, are made to be easily installed by the user themselves utilizing the wiring from the current doorbell. Even if you’re not particularly tech-savvy, you can install your new device yourself if you already have a doorbell.

Where do you put a doorbell camera?

Think about putting your doorbell camera 45 inches off the ground or your doorway’s threshold. Aim to place the doorbell at chest level so that the camera will be able to easily capture anyone ringing the doorbell.

How much is a doorbell camera?

The price of a doorbell camera starts at about $65 and above.

How far can doorbell cameras see?

About 30 feet distant is the maximum distance that ring cameras can see. Even while they can provide you with a view of that distance, after a certain point the clarity starts to deteriorate.

Do Ring cameras work without the internet?

Without a Wi-Fi connection, Ring Smart Lights will still turn on when they detect motion, but you won’t be able to manage them or receive push messages. Without Wi-Fi, Ring security cameras are inoperable.
