In my earlier post about “the most prospective upcoming phones of 2018”,I wrote about the rumored HTC U12+.
Well, Evan Blass (a reliable source on mobile phone leaks) finally reveals the full specifications of this beautiful flagship from HTC. Confirming rumors that have been making the rounds about this flagship. The HTC U12+ will be unveiled on the 23rd of May.
Evan Blass also posted renders of the HTC U12+, revealing its design, which seems to be somewhat semitransparent, as you can see some internal hardware through the rear. On the front, you can see those wallpapers that also recently leaked.
Here is a breakdown of the crazy features of this device.
Design and Display
The body of the HTC U12+ is wrapped in scratch resistant glass. With an aluminum frame at its core.
With a dimension of 156.6 x 73.9 x 8.7 mm (6.17 x 2.91 x 0.34 in), it weighs about 188g. It comes in two models, Single SIM (Nano-SIM) or Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by).
The HTC U12+ has a 6.0-inch Super LCD6 capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colors. With a screen resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels, it has an 18:9 aspect ratio (~537 ppi density). HTC has claimed that this device has pressure sensitive buttons, with its screen having an IP68 certification. That is to say that the device is dust/waterproof(up to 1.5m for 30 mins).
The Screen supports Multitouch and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass v5 material and has a DCI-P3 & HDR10 compliance. Also included is an improved HTC Sense UI.
Hardware and Software
The HTC U12+ comes with Android 8 Oreo, although there’s a planned upgrade to Android 9 soon.
Powering this device is a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset. The CPU on this device has a configuration of Octa-core (4×2.6 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver). There’s also an Adreno 630 GPU, for those amazing graphics.
This device has 6GB of RAM, with a 64GB or 256GB of inbuilt storage memory variant. This inbuilt memory can be expanded to about 400GB using its Sim 2 Slot as a microSD port.
In addition, a Fast Charging( Quick Charge ) feature is present on this device. HTC also added a Qi wireless charging feature too.
The sensors available on this device include Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
Camera and Battery
This device has a Dual: 12 MP (f/1.8, 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF) + 16 MP (f/2.6, 1.0µm) camera. With phase detection & laser autofocus, OIS, 2x optical zoom, dual-LED dual-tone flash.
Upfront, there’s another dual-camera setup with two 8MP (f/2.0, 1.12µm), 1080p camera. With HDR, and panorama. Which means your selfie-taking just got a lot better.
Other features of this camera include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama.
Furthermore, there’s a Non-removable Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery included in this flagship.
The price of this device isn’t certain yet, but its expected to start selling at about 800 EUR. Which equals N340,639
