How to Take Screenshots on Your Mac, iPhone and Android Device?
There are several methods you can use to capture your Mac screen instead of using a PrtSrn key or any dedicated software you can use keyboard shortcuts.
#1: How to Take Screenshots on Your Mac?
Step #1: To take screenshots on your Mac, press and hold these keyboard keys together: Shift + Command + 3.
Step #2: A thumbnail will be displayed at the corner of your screen, click on it to edit the screenshot or wait for the screenshot to be saved on your mac.
#2: How to Take Screenshots on Your Mac (from a Portion of Your Mac’s Screen)?
Step #1: To take a screenshot of a portion of your Mac’s screen, press and hold these keyboard keys together: Shift + Command + 4.
Step #2: To select the area of the screen to capture, drag the crosshair. Press and hold the Space bar while dragging to move your selection. Press the Esc (Escape) key to cancel the screenshot.
Step #3: To take the screenshot of the selected portion, release your mouse or the trackpad button.
Step #4: A thumbnail will be displayed at the corner of your screen, click on it to edit the screenshot or wait for the screenshot to be saved on your mac.
#3: How to Take Screenshots on Your Mac Window or Menu?
Step #1: To screenshot a window or menu on a Mac, open the window or menu that you want to screenshot.
Step #2: Press and hold these keyboard keys together: Shift + Command + 4 + Space bar. The mac pointer will change to a camera icon. Press the Esc (Escape) key to cancel the screenshot.
Step #3: Click on the window or menu to screenshot it. To not include the window’s shadow from the capture, press and hold the Option key while you click.
Step #4: A thumbnail will be displayed at the corner of your screen, click on it to edit the screenshot or wait for the screenshot to be saved on your mac.
#4: How to Take a Screenshot on an iPhone
Taking a screenshot on your iPhone is quick, simple, straightforward and not complicated. All you need is to push two buttons. Follow the steps below to take a screenshot on your iPhone.
Step #1: Go to the screen or application that you want to screenshot
Step #2: Press and hold the Side button which is at the top right-hand side of your iPhone
Step #3: Now, quickly press the Volume up button while still holding the Side button then release both buttons immediately. Your iPhone screen will briefly flash a white light and the camera will make a shutter noise (if your iPhone is not placed on silent mode). All screenshots will be saved automatically directly to the Photos App. From there, the screenshot can be shared to apps such as WhatsApp, email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.
Note that if you are using iPhone 8 or earlier, press the side button and the Home button instead.
#5: How to Take a Screenshot on an Android Phone
If you have Android version 9 or 10, there are two methods to take a screenshot on your Android device and they include the following.
- Press and hold the power and volume down buttons
- Press and hold the power button. A popup window will be displayed on the right-hand side of the device screen with icon options for you to power off, restart, call an emergency number or take a screenshot
Irrespective of the method you used to take the screenshot, it will briefly appear as a smaller version and then disappear and a notification will be displayed that lets you edit, delete or share the screenshot.
To see previous screenshots, do the following steps:
- Go to your Photos app on your android device
- Tap on the three parallel lines located at the top left corner of your android device
- Select Device folders >> Screenshots.
If your android device has support for Google Assistant or Bixby(Samsung), you can use voice command to take a screenshot of your device screen. For those using Samsung devices that come with an S Pen stylus, you can take a screenshot from the Air Command menu by tapping on Screen Write and you can then write or crop the screenshot image. Samsung phones also support using of hand gestures to take a screenshot with its Palm swipe to capture feature.
