The Emergency SOS Functionality for Apple Watches
The Emergency SOS functionality which is available on smartphones and smartwatches is designed to let people know that you are in trouble and what your real-time location is so that someone can come to rescue you.

We don’t pray for any emergency for ourselves or loved ones but imagine your grandparents that are living alone and they have an accident or they get hurt, with their Apple Watch they can easily get help quickly.

The Emergency SOS feature of your Apple Watch shares your real-time location with emergency services and your emergency contacts. It also alerts your emergency contacts with text messages of your current location and when your location changes, it updates them except you decide to cancel it.
The emergency call can be made on the Apple Watch by pressing and holding down on the side button for several seconds in a row. Apple prompts you to first turn on the Emergency SOS feature as you set up your Apple Watch but most people ignore it. However, you can still turn it on later.
Most people may not want their Apple Watch Emergency SOS to turn on as it is easy to mistakenly make an emergency call if something presses against the side button.
If you want to use the Emergency SOS feature on your Apple Watch and it does not have a cellular, you will need your iPhone close to you. If your iPhone is not close to you, then your Apple Watch has to be connected to a Wi-Fi network and you need to enable Wi-Fi calling.
