Spotify is home to millions of songs and some of these songs are not appropriate for certain age grade. The music streaming platform has had a built-in explicit content filter that can be activated by flipping on and off a toggle but however, parents still weren’t quite knowledgable on how to set parental control on Spotify family accounts.
Spotify added parental control to let parents be able to filter explicit content for certain family members. The Family premium subscription still offers each family member their own individual Spotify premium accounts with their own playlists and recommendations, however, the person managing the account will be able to toggle on the content filter for any of the related accounts.
How to Set Parental Control on Spotify Family Accounts
The first step to take when learning how to set parental control on Spotify family accounts is first by adding family members to the Spotify family premium account… Here is how to add your family members to Spotify family premium.
#1: Open the Spotify website on your web browser. If you have not created an account, simply sign up for one, but if you already have one, then just log in.
#2: Click on Profile
#3: On the drop-down menu, click on Account
#4: Scroll down and click on Premium Family.
#5: On the left-hand column, click on Add to Family Plan.
#6: Click on Invite to Premium.
A link will be provided, copy it and send it to the family member that you want to add to the plan.
Once the family member accepts the invite, they are added to the Spotify Premium Family subscription plan and you have parental control over their account.
How to Set Parental Control on Spotify Family Premium on PC
Once a family member has been added to the Spotify Premium Family subscription plan, you can control what they listen to be following the following steps on a computer device.
#1: Go to the Spotify website on your web browser.
#2: At the top right corner of the website, click on Log in and enter your log in details information.
#3: On the left-hand column, click on Premium Family.
#4: In the People on his plan section, click on the family member account which you want to control.
#5: On the family member profile page, you can toggle on or off the Allow explicit content.
How to Set Parental Control on Spotify Family Premium on Mobile
To activate parental controls for Premium Family accounts on mobile, follow the instructions below:
#1: Go to the Spotify website on your web browser.
#2: At the top right corner, tap on the hamburger menu (three lines button). Then tap Log in and enter your account details.
#3: Tap on the drop-down menu that says Account Overview, then tap on Premium Family.
#4: In the People on his plan section, click on the family member account which you want to control.
#5: On the family member profile page, you can toggle on or off the Allow explicit content.
What to Know about Spotify Family Accounts
