What is Alexa?

Alexa is a hands-free speaker that’s controlled using our voice.

The technology was developed by Amazon and it works as a virtual assistant AI technology like Siri that is capable of having voice interaction, play music, play a podcast, read an audiobook, handle your to-do list, provide you with real-time information such as weather, news, traffic and sports.

It can also be used as a home automation device.

In some countries, you can even use Alexa to order food. The good thing about this Alexa technology is that it can work on different mobile OS (operating systems) such as Fire OS, iOS and Android.

How Do I Change Alexa’s Language or Accent?

You may not like how fast your Alexa talks or her accent. But the good news is that Alexa has built-in options for language, accent, pace and you can change all these for free.

Another cool thing is for some dollars you can change the voice of Alexa to that of a celebrity like Samuel L. Jackson.

Follow these steps:

#1: Go to the Alexa app on your smartphone which you use to control Alexa settings and open it. On the Alexa’s app home page, there is a three-bar menu icon located at the top left, tap on it.

#2: Then select Settings > Device Settings and choose the device. Ensure that the device is online.

#3: Once you have selected the device you want to change Alexa’s language or accent, scroll down and tap on the Language category.


#4: After tapping on the Language category, a long list of languages and the countries they are associated will be displayed. Tap on the one you are interested in.


You will have to confirm the language option you selected. Once done, test if Alexa now speaks in the language or accent of your choice.
