Nokia 4.2 Summary

Nokia 4.2 enters one of the most hotly contested segments of the market but neglects to shine as a great budget phone. The phone has a prized design and an outstanding build quality. The power button doubles as the notification light which is a great addition and stock Android experience is undoubtedly a welcome trait.
But the insufficient Snapdragon 439 processor is something that serves as a performance jam. The phone feels sluggish during everyday usage and struggles with intricate multitasking.
Camera performance is average, but issues with and shutter lag prove to a major annoyance. Also, the 3,000mAh battery is barely enough to last a full day of regular usage, and to aggravate the shortcoming further; the charging speed is also quite slow.

Nokia 4.2 Design

Nokia 4.2 Price in Nigeria
Nokia 4.2 Price in Nigeria

The most striking feature of the Nokia 4.2 is its design, which borrows components from the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 5.1 and looks attractive. The general aesthetic form is clean and understated, particularly the black variant of the device. The curved 2.5D glass on the back and front give the Nokia 4.2 a premium look, and we fancy this to the gradient finishes that are available on an increasing number of phones lately.

There is a vertically arranged dual-camera setup that seems almost level with the back panel, and the fingerprint sensor lies below it. The frame of this phone also has a glossy polish with a curved profile, mixing smoothly into the front and rear panels. The Nokia 4.2 looks more premium than what its price would suggest, and this might as well be an essential basis for people who would like an awe-looking phone without having to spend a lot of money.

Design cont.

The premium design of the phone extends to its in-hand feel, which is also transcendent. The Nokia 4.2 has a comparatively small footprint and is convenient to hold. You need not adjust the phone in your hands and stretch your fingers to reach for content at the far angles of the screen. The design quality of the Nokia 4.2 is unique, and this phone should be on buyers’ lists if design is an important deciding factor for them.

The phone has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left, and unfortunately, the button cannot be customized to perform any other task. A single push of the button will bring up Google’s AI assistant, while a double press will bring up a piece of boring information that no one would really use

Thanks to a LED strip around the power button, it also serves as a notification light. The volume rocker sits the power button, and All the buttons provide satisfying tactile feedback.

On the left of this phone is the SIM tray, which has three slots to hold two SIM cards and a microSD card of up to 400GB concurrently. At the top sits a microphone and the 3.5mm headphone jack, while another microphone, the Micro-USB port, and the speaker, can be found at the bottom.

Nokia 4.2 Specification

The device certainly gives a high-quality feel. However, the device is a fingerprint and dust magnet, so it is advisable to invest in a skin or a case or be ready to wipe spots every time for the phone to look squeaky clean.

Display and Performance

The phone packs a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1520 pixels) IPS LCD touchscreen with a waterdrop notch, 19:9 aspect ratio, and a pixel density of 270ppi. Looking over to the oppositions, one can find phones that offer better screen with higher resolutions and wider viewing angles. On the convinced side, there is Adaptive Brightness for auto-brightness adjustment, and you can enable Night Light mode for a more comfortable screen viewing experience at night.

Powering the phone is a 2GHz octa-core 12nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM.

The underpowered processor reflects in the everyday performance of the phone but more on that later.

The Nokia 4.2 is a member of Google’s Android One program and runs Android 9.0 Pie.

Considering the phone runs a stock version of Android Pie, you get access to attributes such as Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, Digital Wellbeing, and navigation gestures, just to name a few. Ambient Display is an additional helpful innovation that shows notifications for calls, incoming messages, and alarms without waking the screen.

The phone also has face recognition, but it is not expressly reliable or quick, even in well-lit environments. The fingerprint scanner works fine and unlocks the phone quickly. The scanner can also be used to pull down the notification shade with a swipe downward.Nokia 4.2 Price in Nigeria

Camera and Battery Life

The Nokia 2.2 has a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera at the back and an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. Photos taken in daylight ordinarily turns out decent, with natural colors and minimal visible processing. However, sharpness and edge details were lacking.

It packs a comparably small 3,000mAh battery, which hardly managed to last us through a full day of usage. Besides using productivity apps. The battery capacity is certainly on the lower side.

Nokia 2.2 Summary

Nokia 2.2 smartphone launched on 6th June 2019, and it came in Steel and Tungsten Black colors. The device comes with a 5.7-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19:9, powered by a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor, comes with 2GB of RAM, runs Android Pie and is powered by a REMOVEABLE Li-Ion 3,000mAh battery.
As for the cameras, the device has a single 13MP camera. It also sports a 5MP front-facing selfie camera.
Nokia 2.2 is based on Android 9.0 Pie and packs 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 400GB). The Nokia 2.2 is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards.

Design and DisplayNokia 2.2

The Nokia 2.2 is a budget phone, and that is evident from the use of plastic for its production. This smartphone has a tiny impression and will fit in your palm comfortably. It has a 5.7-inch display with a dewdrop notch. The borders around the screen are thick but reasonable for the price. The company has picked the thick bottom chin to place the Nokia logo. The earpiece rests between the frame and the display.

HMD Global has placed the power button and volume rockers on the right, and all three are easy to reach thanks to the size of this smartphone. There is a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left. This button can be used to summon the Google Assistant on any screen, and you can use the walkie-talkie method to keep the button held while you give a command.

Design cont.

Releasing the button stops the Assistant’s listening characteristics and starts processing your command instantly, which helps speed up communications with the Google Assistant. You do get the choice to switch off this action in the settings, but it would have been preferable to customize this button do something else, if necessary.

The smartphone has a primary microphone at the bottom, along with a Micro-USB port, while on top is a 3.5mm headphone jack. At the back, you would find a single camera along with an LED flash. This smartphone misses out on a fingerprint sensor just like the Realme C2. However, a few other phones at this price such as the Asus ZenFone Max M2 and Redmi 7 do sport one

The back panel of the smartphone is detachable, and the battery also. If you like a smartphone with a removable battery, this is one of the few ones. It is a dual SIM smartphone and has two Nano-SIM slots as well as a dedicated microSD card port. The loudspeaker is at the back.Nokia 2.2

Specifications and Software

Nokia 2.2 has decent specifications. The MediaTek Helio A22 SoC powers the phone just like the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. It is not the most powerful processor at this price point at all, but it should be competent in handling basic day-to-day tasks. The phone is available in 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. However, If you intend on picking the device for gaming, it would not be the smartest choice.

The 5.71-inch IPS LCD has an HD+ 720×1520 pixel resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The company offers you the option to twist the color temperature of the panel. It had proper viewing angles and could get bright enough to be visible outdoors.

Like other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 2.2 is a part of the Android One platform. It operates stock Android Pie with an additional app called My Phone, which is for after-sales support.

Since the Nokia 2.2 skips out on a fingerprint scanner, it does offer face recognition, using the front-facing selfie camera to recognize you. We found the process to be sluggish, and it took longer in low-light situations.

Cameras, and Battery life

The Nokia 2.2 has a single 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP front-facing selfie camera. The camera app is basic and has Google Lens, time-lapse, panorama, and square modes. It features a quick toggle for HDR, and you can set it to auto mode so that it kicks in automatically if the scene requires it.

Photos taken with the smartphone were decent in daylight, but the device did struggle to get the exposure right.
The Nokia 2.2 decks in a 3000mAh removable battery that delivers decent battery life. The phone delivered over a day of battery life while shooting camera samples, gaming, and more. However, the phone was not as efficient in our HD video loop test, as it would barely manage just about 10 hours of playback. It does take over an hour and a half to charge with the supplied charger fully.

Extras

Connectivity options on the device include Micro-USB, Bluetooth v4.20, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, USB OTG, and FM radio with active 4G on both SIM cards.

Sensors on the phone include an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. The Nokia 2.2 supports face unlock.

The Nokia 2.2 smartphone pricing starts at around 48,000 Naira

Nokia X71 smartphone launched in April 2019 and was launched in Black color.

Display and DesignNokia X71 Display and Design

This smartphone is the first device from HMD to pack a punch-hole camera (one that’s surrounded by screen) rather than a chunky bezel or display notch, making it arguably the firm’s best-looking handset to date (since its Android revival)

The phone comes with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display and a 1080 x 2316 pixels resolution. The phone has a glass back and front, and an aluminum frame.

The smartphone has a hole-punch design and keeps a tiny bezel at the bottom of the display. The hole-punch is in the top left corner of the screen and houses the camera.

The glass back houses a triple cameras setup, a flashlight, and the fingerprint sensor just underneath the camera. On the right side of the smartphone is the volume rockers and the power button, on the top is the side is the Headphone jack and dual-SIM card and MicroSD card tray, and on the bottom is the USB-C, the speaker grille, and the primary microphone.

While the spec sheet is comparatively impressive, the Nokia X71 would not be disputing the new Nokia 9 PureView flagship which is seated at the top of Nokia’s phone range.

Instead, the X71 will slide into the midst of the line, which is good news as the device looks well-adorned to be competitive in this market, and the pure Android 9 Pie operating system ensures it will receive swift software and security updates.

CameraNokia X71 camera

Nokia 9 PureView -Full Specifications, Review and Price

Nokia 9 PureView Summary

Key Specs
  • Display 5.99-inch
  • Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Front Camera 20MP
  • Rear Camera 12MP + 12MP + 12MP + 12MP + 12MP

  • Storage 128GB
  • Battery Capacity 3320mAh
  • OS Android 9.0 Pie

Nokia 9 PureView launched on 25th February 2019 and was launched only in Midnight Blue color.
Compared to the folding phones and touchless UI, the Nokia 9 PureView first flagship of 2019, comes with a straight forward ambition. It merely wants to take the best promising photos ever logged by a smartphone. The back of the Nokia 9 sports an eccentric Penta-lens display of cameras, including a flash and a sensor, arranged in a neat hexagonal pattern.

The extra depth in a picture is due to the phone’s time-of-flight camera, which gives it the ability to capture over a thousand layers of depth when shooting portraits. That means your bokeh shots will look more realistic and looks like as though taken with a DSLR.

The only main visual difference between the Pixel and Nokia 9 is the camera app. it has several features not found in Google’s pixel camera, including an excellent manual mode.
It seems like every smartphone these days brags its camera is the best, but the Nokia 9 PureView might be able to justify it, even without a stunt

Aside from the colorful camera array, the Nokia 9 feels more like a mix of premium and mid-range.

Display and Design

The phone comes with a 6-inch touchscreen display; it has a glass front and back and an aluminum frame.
Nokia resists the trending notch design and still decides to keep its bezels both on the top and bottom of the display. However, the bezels are minimal as it houses the front camera, and the screen has rounded edges. Also, the display houses the (in-display) fingerprint sensor.

The glass back houses five cameras and a flashlight, as well as a microphone. The right side of the phone host the volume rockers and the power button, on the top, is the dual-SIM card tray, and on the bottom is the USB-C, the speaker grill, and the primary microphone.

Hardware and Performance

An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor powers Nokia 9 PureView smartphone. It comes with 6GB of RAM and packs 128GB of inbuilt storage. Sadly, the phone’s storage is not expandable.

The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie which is powered by a 3,320mAh non-removable battery. The Nokia 9 PureView supports wireless charging. The Nokia 9 PureView is a dual (GSM and GSM) SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards.

Camera

The Nokia 9 PureView on the rear rocks a five-camera setup which includes a 2x 12MP RGB primary camera, and three 12MP B/W camera all working simultaneously. The rear camera setup a TOF 3D camera and has autofocus. The smartphone has a 20MP front-facing selfie camera.
So the device has no ultra-wide camera or even a telephoto lens on the camera setup, and in fact, not one of the cameras are particularly innovative on their own, but they’re not meant to work alone. When taking a photo with the device, all five cameras come into play to capture up to 240MP of data. The images are then instantaneously fused into a single 12MP HDR picture (or a giant RAW one).

Extra Features

Connectivity options on the Nokia 9 PureView include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G with active 4G on both SIM cards.
Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 9 PureView supports face unlock.
It features an IP67 rating for dust and water protection.

Nokia 9 PureView is priced at 215,000 naira.

Nokia 2.1 Review (Full Specifications and Price)

Nokia 2.1

Earlier this week, HMD announced the new Nokia 2.1 Android smartphone. The Nokia 2.1 is a successor to the earlier released Nokia 2 and will be released by next month. Also, this device falls into the lower mid-range category because of its low budget pricing. And also because of its low spec ratings.

The new Nokia 2.1 features a 5.5-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 425 chipset, a meagre 1GB of RAM, 8GB of inbuilt-storage (of which 4.7GB is available), a microSD slot, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Let me go ahead and review the Nokia 2.1.

Design and Display

nokia 2.1

The Nokia 2.1 has its body wrapped in an aluminium frame. With a front glass and a plastic body.

The Nokia 2.1 has dimensions of 153.6 x 77.6 x 9.7 mm (6.05 x 3.06 x 0.38 in). With a weight of 174g.

This device also has a 5.5-inch IPS Capacitive Touch-screen, with 16M colours. With a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, it has a 16:9 aspect ratio (~267 ppi density).

Furthermore, this Smartphone also has its screen protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass material.

In addition, the Nokia 2.1 comes in three colour variants: Blue/Copper, Blue/Silver, and Grey/Silver.

Hardware and Software

nokia 2.1

The Nokia 2.1 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) + Android One operating system.

The Nokia 2.1 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 chipset with a 32-bit processor. Furthermore, it also comes with a Quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz.

This device features 1Gb of RAM and 8Gb of inbuilt memory. Which can also be expanded to 128Gb using a microSD card.

Sensors on this device are Accelerometer and proximity sensors.

Camera and Battery

Nokia 2.1

The Nokia 2.1 features an 8 MP (f/2.0) camera. With autofocus, and LED flash.

Upfront, there’s also a 5 MP camera. This camera isn’t good in selfie-taking. It doesn’t do well in most low-light environments.

Also, talking about the battery life, there’s a Non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAh battery. Also included is a fast charge feature.

Price

The Nokia 2.1 Android smartphone sells for about 100 EUR. Which is equivalent to N41,966.
