In an earlier post, I talked about the BlackBerry Key2 and its release date. The BlackBerry Key2 was announced at an event in New York City yesterday. Furthermore, it’ll be available to buy much later in the month. It may not be the most powerful smartphone on the market, but it’s cheaper.
The keyboard on the BlackBerry Key2 also takes in some of the amazing things on recent BlackBerry phones. Because the buttons also double as a touchpad.
In addition, the BlackBerry Key2 has pretty nice specifications too, with 6GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Design and Display
The BlackBerry Key2 boasts of an aluminium frame with a plastic back. The metallic rim encircling its dual camera feels nice in the hand, and the Corning Gorilla Glass used looks strong and premium.
BlackBerry Key2 has a dimension of 151.4 x 71.8 x 8.5 mm (5.96 x 2.83 x 0.33 in) and weighs only 168g (5.93 oz).
The BlackBerry Key2 boasts of a 4.5-inch (~55.2% screen-to-body ratio) IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colours. Also, with a resolution of 1080 x 1620 pixels, it has a 3:2 aspect ratio (~433 ppi density).
The screen has Multitouch features and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass v3 material.
The BlackBerry Key2 comes in two variants, a Single SIM (Nano-SIM) and Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) in India only. They both come with a Capacitive touch 4-row BlackBerry keyboard.
Hardware and Software
The BlackBerry Key2 is powered by a Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 chipset on top an Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system.
In addition, there’s an Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260) CPU. Also, there’s an Adreno 512 GPU for graphics handling.
Furthermore, the BlackBerry Key2 comes with 6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of inbuilt memory. Which can expand to 256Gb, via a microSD card.
The sensors on the BlackBerry Key2 include Fingerprint (front-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
Camera and Battery
The BlackBerry Key2 sports a Dual: 12 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.3″, 1.55µm, DP PDAF) + 12 MP (f/2.6, 1.0µm, PDAF) rear camera. With phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED dual-tone flash.
Some features of this camera include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama.
Upfront, there’s an 8 MP (f/2.0, 1.12µm), 1080p Camera that promises a lot for selfie lovers out there.
Furthermore, the BlackBerry Key2 comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 3500 mAh battery. Also, they included Fast battery charging at 50% in 36 min.
Price
The Price of the BlackBerry Key2 is about 650 EUR. While its Naira equivalent is N275,625.
