We all know that Sony’s PS4 is home to many of the present generation’s finest games. They are so much that it can be a bit confusing to choose what to play next. From high budget adventures to the “just there’s”, there’s a long list of titles to pick from.
Truth is… if you’ve been looking for some modern-day classics to fill up your collection, here are the best PS4 games your money can buy.
God Of War
The rebranding of this long running hack-and-slash series is a beautiful thing; well crafted, fun to play and tender in its storytelling. Kratos is now older and wiser but still adept at cleaving nasty deities from head to toe. Now, his son, Atreus, is on for the adventure. This one sees you crossing bloody paths with Norse mythology.
BUY
Nier Automata
Nier Automata is a touche action title about an eternal war between robots and androids. The action plays out across a post-apocalyptic version of earth and requires multiple levels to reveal its final chapters. Although very challenging and subversive, the experience is one never to forget.
BUY
Shadow of the Colossus
This game is widely acknowledged as one of the finest games of all time. This is the second time the PS2 classic has been remade for a brand new generation of consoles. Although this time, it’s something more impressive. With graphics up there with the best of this year’s releases.
BUY
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is a vital purchase for any PlayStation 4 owner. You probably already own it and so you’re really not even bothered to read this. Yet, this is the best Uncharted game in the series. Well, if you like climbing, puzzles and shooting more people than the population of a small African nation, this is the game for you.
Overwatch
Honestly, Overwatch has taken the gaming world by storm. This game offers an addictive and incredibly welcoming experience in the competitive shooter scene. Meanwhile, over seven million people have played it and it continues to dominate. If you like shooting others in the face, this game is the best way to do it.
The Last Guardian
Have you played Ico or Shadows of the Colossus? then you’ll know you’re in safe hands with The Last Guardian. It’s hard to just summarise the exploration and puzzle elements in a short paragraph, but it’s the emotional attachment you’ll make along the way that really makes the game something special.
Bloodborne
Folks, if you’re a fan of masochism, Bloodborne is the game for you. Bloodborne takes place in a gothic world filled with death and pestilence where a plague has turned the city’s folks into beasts. In addition, you’ll be armed with one melee weapon and a firearm, and you’ve got to survive on the streets on the night of The Hunt. Cool huh…?
Hitman
Well, quite unlike previous Hitman games, its latest title – also called Hitman – is an episodic release to encourage players to make the most of its multi-layered levels. Agent 47, who looks younger than ever, still has that trademark suit and red tie. With three out of five episodes now out, Hitman has truly flourished into one of the 2018 must-have games.
Horizon Zero Dawn
The fantastic combat mechanics and gorgeous visuals make this game a must-play if you own a PlayStation 4. Although, the story is quite derivative and yes, the dialogue isn’t great. But it’ll remain a great blockbuster that’s 100% worth the price.
Destiny 2
It wasn’t made to everybody’s tastes. But if you liked the original Destiny, you’ll definitely love this sequel which distills the formula down to its best bits. And also makes it more addictive than ever before. The shooting mechanics are amazing, and a bubbling multiplayer community ensures you’ll never be short of people to go along with.
These are the top games of 2018 on PS4, it’s just a choice list. Not in any particular order.
Enjoy your gaming.
